Her first child is son Jago Fionn, born in August 2023. He’s two now. The name Jago is Cornish and means James or Jacob. Fionn is Irish. Makes sense given she was the Ireland correspondent at the time.
Then, in October 2025, Emma reveals she is expecting her second child. Shared a video on Instagram of her baby bump at work. She’s due sometime in early 2026, presumably.

Emma Vardy is a BBC journalist from Southampton. Completely different person, completely different career, no relation whatsoever.
The confusion’s understandable – they’re both in the public eye, and both have distinctive careers. But nope, just a coincidence they share a surname.

Outside BBC work, Emma does loads of public speaking and event hosting. She’s chaired events for the Political Studies Association, hosted the Good Friday Agreement 25th Anniversary with Tony Blair and Bertie Ahern, and done Queen’s University events and Belfast Book Festival stuff.

Emma Vardy Instagram account (@emmavardytv) has around 12,000 followers. Not millions, like some celebrities, but a healthy social media following. She uses the account to share a mix of work things and personal life. Photos from red carpet events next to pictures of her hiking with Jago. Keeps it real, doesn’t try to be perfect all the time.
When she announced her second pregnancy, her Instagram video was just of her on the job, in a blue dress, turning to reveal the bump. Nothing fancy, no big production. People appreciated the simple approach.

The BBC hasn’t announced where she’s going next. Could stay in LA, could move back to the UK, or could go somewhere completely different. That’s the life of a foreign correspondent – you never really settle.
With baby number two coming early in 2026, she might take some time off. Or knowing Emma, she’ll be back at work three weeks after giving birth, like she did with Jago.

Emma Vardy has this quality that makes her watchable. She doesn’t talk down to viewers, doesn’t overdo the serious journalist voice, and just explains things clearly.
My dad reckons she’s one of the best political reporters at the BBC. Says she asks proper questions and doesn’t let politicians waffle on with non-answers.
